Consent Mode v2 has been required since March 2024. Without it, Google limits the data it collects from visitors in Europe.

You click “Connect”, sign in with your Google account and approve access. In the container you point us to we do four things: we read the list of containers, we add one tag on the “Consent Initialization” trigger, we create a container version and we publish it.

The banner is running, consents are being logged, and you never had to touch the technical setup.

Nothing else — your other tags stay untouched. You can revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and remove the banner by deleting that one tag or rolling the container back to its previous version. What we store and for how long — privacy policy.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I really need a cookie banner?

If your site uses anything beyond technically necessary cookies — analytics (GA4), advertising pixels, embedded maps or videos — then yes. Consent must be freely given and documented, and scripts must not start before it. Since 2024, without Consent Mode v2 Google also limits your data in Analytics and Ads — so you stop seeing what works.

Will the banner slow my site down?

No — the script is light and loads asynchronously. If anything the site gets faster, because the heavy scripts (pixels, video) only start after consent.

What does setup look like if you don’t host my site?

All we need is access to Google Tag Manager, or someone who can paste in one script (we are happy to talk to your webmaster). If the site is hosted with us, we do everything ourselves, usually within 1–2 working days.

How many domains does one subscription cover?

All of them, as long as they belong to your organisation — we count neither domains nor subdomains. Your main site, a separate campaign site and a blog on a subdomain are one organisation and one price to us. With the others it is the other way round: Cookiebot charges a fee “for each domain and each subdomain” added to the account (their terms, clause 3.1.4.4), and CookieYes states in its definitions that subdomains “shall be considered separate and distinct Websites, regardless of whether they share the same root domain”.

What about Google Analytics — will I lose data?

No. We configure Consent Mode v2, so Analytics and Ads get the signals Google asks for — data and remarketing work for users who consented, and Google models the rest.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time — it is a monthly subscription with no commitment.
